DTe Director De Jong Moves to European Platform of Energy Regulators

As of 1 January 2003, Mr Jacques de Jong will lead the expansion of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), the consultation platform of European energy regulators. Due to the time that this task will demand, he will give up his present position as the Director of the Office for Energy Regulation (DTe) as of the same date.

CEER serves as the platform for consultation between the various European countries in the process of liberalisation of the energy markets and advises the European Commission in this regard. Given the fact that CEER will be granted formal status in 2003 and after this will be extended to include the regulators of the ten new Member States, the further expansion and strengthening of CEER is necessary. Mr De Jong will supervise this process. In addition, Mr De Jong will spend part of his time at the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP), a network platform for the government, the private sector and universities aimed at strengthening research, discussion and the transfer of knowledge in relation to energy.

Mr De Jong will continue his association with NMa as an adviser in the area of regulation and energy matters. Further announcements will be made shortly with regard to how the vacancy will be filled.
