ACM issues warning about online shop Bellio

The Netherlands Authority Consumers & Markets (ACM) has issued a warning about Dutch online shop Bellio (www.bellio.nl), which sells design furniture. ACM has received dozens of indications through consumer information desk ConsuWijzer from consumers who had placed an order with the online shop, had paid for their purchases, but were not delivered anything in the end.

Companies must inform their customers if they cannot deliver the product on time. In this case, consumers are allowed to cancel their purchases, whereupon the company must reimburse any advance payments to consumers within thirty days. Bellio failed to do so either. The indications ConsuWijzer received concerned purchases of up to hundreds of euros.

To prevent further harm to consumers, ACM has issued a warning about this online shop. ACM takes action against online stores that inform consumers incorrectly or that fail to pay back the money of consumers on time or fail to do so at all.

Consumers can find information about their rights regarding online purchases on the website of ConsuWijzer, such as practical advice and tools, for example, sample letters in case the product is not delivered or if the money was not reimbursed. The online Shopscan on ConsuWijzer is a tool to assess whether or not online shops are trustworthy.
