ACM appoints members to its newly created Advisory Board

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has appointed four members to its newly created Advisory Board: Jeroen Kremers as chair and Ton de Jong, Rafik Majiti, and Pauline Meurs as members. These appointments will take effect on February 1, 2024, when the Advisory Board will start its work. The Advisory Board will give solicited and unsolicited advice to the Board of ACM regarding ACM’s strategic course and other organizational matters.

Martijn Snoep, Chairman of the Board of ACM, comments: “I’m very pleased with the creation of the Advisory Board, as well as with the four inaugural members thereof. We seek to ensure open and fair digital markets, to accelerate the energy transition, and to make the Dutch economy more sustainable. In many of these areas, ACM has been granted new duties and powers. This means our organization will grow and professionalize even further. The creation of the Advisory Board fits well with these developments. The vast and extensive knowledge and experience that these members bring to the table will help us in our mission of ensuring that markets work well for all people and businesses, now and in the future.”

Composition and duties of ACM’s Advisory Board

ACM has appointed four members for a period of four years, starting February 1, 2024. These members bring their experience to ACM, which they gained in the corporate sector, government, academia, the energy sector, the digital sector, and the regulatory sector. The Advisory Board will give solicited and unsolicited advice to the Board of ACM regarding ACM’s strategic course, operations, finances, its relations with relevant ministries, as well as major changes in the organization. The Advisory Board will not give advice regarding individual decisions that ACM takes on the basis of its statutory powers.
