Dutch postal company PostNL’s 2012 on-time delivery performance was 93.9 percent

Dutch postal company PostNL in 2012 failed to meet the statutory requirement of delivering at least 95 percent of mail the following working day. That is the conclusion the Netherlands Authority for Consumer and Markets (ACM) draws in its assessment of PostNL’s delivery performance and its location policy.

In 2012, PostNL delivered on time 93.9 percent of mail that had been dropped in their mailboxes. ACM does not have any powers to take action against PostNL for missing its statutory target for 2012. From 2014, ACM has, which means it can then impose a fine on PostNL of up to EUR 450,000 or 10 percent of the relevant turnover (should this be higher). With regard to its location policy, PostNL in 2012 met the statutory requirements. These requirements concern the range of products and services offered at locations, the number of locations, and their spread.
